[IRCA] Can NiMH batteries be used in devices that take NICADs?

Just got a brand new Sangean ATS-909X today from Universal Radio (to replace the one that I bought 3 years ago that shorted out), and I've noticed for the first time that it takes NICAD batteries.  I have a newly-purchased set of Nuon NiMH AAs here at home, along with a nifty Nuon charger to go with them, and I'm wondering if I now have to go through the bother of getting NICAD batteries and their respective charger just for this radio, or if NIMHs will work in it.
