Re: [IRCA] TP 23 Mar, Victoria version

A lucky break, Barry, though not lucky enough to hear anything else. It was back when I checked later in the day.

best wishes,

Nick

Hello Nick
Has 1320 CHBM been off for some time or was it a lucky break down?

As others have noted, not an astonishing morning. In some ways, conditions were better after 1200UT, but there was a bit of high band sunrise enhancement. Lots of interesting carriers, but only the regulars really made much audio. 1323 was particularly strong, but no audio; odd given that Vancouver on 1320 seemed to be off, so less splash than usual.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

774 JOUB. Man in JJ, 1202UT
1566 HLAZ. Woman signing off in JJ 1344UT followed by CC s/on at 1345UT at nearly the same strength, matching it by 1349UT w/woman in CC

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1575 VoA likely. Flute mx, woman in SE Asian language 1345UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

594 JOAK. Man in JJ 1239UT
738 Tahiti likely w/man in FF then woman, 1304UT
828 JOBB. Man in JJ 1358UT
972 HLCA. Man in KK 1350UT
1053 KK jammer 1250UT
1287 JOHR likely. Woman in JJ 1226UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

567 JOIK. pips, man in JJ? 1200UT
747 JOIB. Man talking, likely wx report 1310UT
945 unID. CNR1? Slow oriental sounding mx 1244UT.
1593 NHK2. EE lesson theme mx 1350UT. (Sunday...usually CC lessons at this time)

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

612 621 693 702 864 891 981 1143 1206 1251 1278 1296 1323 1458 1494 1512

best wishes,

Nick
