[IRCA] TP 19 Jan, Victoria version

This morning I seemed to have been on a better planet than Bruce was....more like the coastal version of what Nigel was describing, right down to the plethora of carriers. There must have been more splatter today, as there were quite a lot of strong carriers not...quite...delivering audio. Pre-sunrise enhancement from about 1525 to 1545UT here, quite definitely, and applying mostly above 1000kHz. My major catch was just moments before sunrise however...

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

1566 HLAZ...1344, the JJ s/off, then lots of CC talk and some mx from 1530 to 1545, fading up to excellent levels 1593 CNR1 various levels of hugeness after firm ID //6175 at 1514UT; probably best at 1548UT, top overseas signal on the band in more ways than one, and accompanied by a second station, woman singing fluidly, which I believe was my catch of the month (maybe the year?)....Taiwan Fisheries (see below)

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

the above, passing through

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

594 JOAK man in JJ 1405-06UT
774 JOUB man in JJ 1404UT
1044 CRI woman in JJ 1527UT, ID'd as //5980 at 1518UT
1116 unID. man and woman in CC 1533UT, not //5925, so not sure which CC it was.
1377 CNR1 man in CC //6175 1534UT, peaking 1344UT oriental singing by woman
1575 VoA woman in SE Asian language 1426UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

1035 CNR1 man talking, a few words slipping through //1593 at 1532UT, musical interlude, and more talk
1098 CNR11? chanting 1522UT, no parallel available
1143 ? instrumental mx 1538UT
1242 JOLF? man talking, JJ inflection 1508UT
1278 man talking, then woman, sounded CC? 1540UT
1305 woman talking 1535UT, but another station with man talking at the same time??
1314 JOUF ? man and woman talking 1535UT, JJ inflection
1332 JOSF? woman talking rapidly, JJ inflectionn 1541UT
1458 man talking, CC sounding 1544UT, not CNR1; sounded like a mess of signals on the channel 1593 Taiwan Fisheries. 1548UT. While CNR1 was blistering in, there was a woman singing a lilting little number way underneath, that sure sounds like what Taiwan Fisheries archive (http://www.frs.gov.tw/newweb/live.asp?d=2014/1/19) says was being played just at 23:48 Taiwan time. By 1550UT a woman was talking u/CNR1, and so there was on the archive also......sure do like those archives!

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):
 (deep breath...)

747 873 972 1377 1494 1503 1575

best wishes,

Nick
