My morning was a bit different from Gary's, with almost nothing at the
low end of the dial, but some interesting stuff at the upper end. The
whole band seemed quite dead until about 1345. After that there were
carriers on about 70% of the 9 kHZ channels above 1000, although most of
them were quite weak.
VOA 1575 was impressive today with listenable audio for about half an
hour. There were also a few "near audio" carriers on 1116 1377 1386
1449 and 1494.
Good - most of it could have been understood by a native speaker
1575 VOA, woman in SEA language 1352, man w/VOA ment 1356 then
indigenous song, more talk, another VOA ment 1359, more talk by various
people. Still producing audio 1419.
Fair - some of it could have been understood by a native speaker
1422 JORF, JJ man & woman 1359-1403. Possibly a chime at ToH, or
maybe it was just domestic splash.
1566 HLAZ, hymn 1340, usual woman with end of JJ pgm 1344
Poor - recognizable program content
594 JOAK time pips and a few syllables of talk 1400
1503 JOUK time pips & weak JJ talk 1400-1402
1593 CNR (presumed), 1350-1403 a few syllables here and there during
pauses in the KLFE splatter
1602 faint talk 1358, jj-like inflections, no pips heard 1400
