Your help in listening to the 1017 recording is appreciated. It sure sounded like Tonga to me, too (heard previously on a couple of DXpeditions), so unless there are any objections from TP-DXers more experienced than me (which aren't hard to find :-), that's how I'll log it!
I'm currently waiting for Bill, Mauno, Vlad and Victor to pass through Cannon Beach on their way back from the Yachats DXpedition. Hopefully we can all go out for coffee and a meal, and do our best to convince each other that despite sacrificing sleep every night in a fanatical effort to chase weak transoceanic AM signals (most of which can now be heard on the Internet), we are still completely normal individuals.

Hi Gary,
Your nice recording sounds exactly like music from Tonga that I've heard on
1017 for many years. I'm sure Bruce and Chuck would agree. Tonga must have
been on an extended schedule.
