I'm reposting the message below, as it's not shown up on either listserv after just under 2.5 hours after the original posting. Wayne says that the NRC listserv was a bit delayed after a move and some maintenance, but I don't know about the IRCA listserve. Again, my apologies for any inconvenience -pls.

Unfortunately, some spamscum - probably in the eastern European time zone, by the date stamp - spoofed or hacked my AOL mailbox around 1:15 CST January 28 and sent out mass spam to everyone on my contact list.
The good news is that over 200 of these messages were blocked by your e-mail and ISP providers - and returned to me (ugh). The bad news is that many were not, if the queries from many of you are any indication.
AOL made me change my password this morning before I could access my e-mail account, so I'm hoping that the problem is over for now. This isn't the first time that my e-mail address has been spoofed, but it's probably the most extensive hack I've experienced since 1994, when I set up this e-mail account with AOL.
My apologies to all who were affected and annoyed, and thanks to all who sent queries to notify me that my e-mail had been compromised -Paul Swearingen, Topeka
