DXing from West Michigan - times/dates in UTC
There's a lot to digest here, but most are new logs extracted from
spectrum recordings when chasing DU's last week. Here are the
Southwestern highlights:
650 XETNT (TENT) Los Mochis, Sin. - 1107 UTC 9/5/11 - With call-in
show and Mex. music, many mentions of "Roberto Guerrero" - maybe the
show's host? Also "Radio sesenta y cinco" and mentions of "Radio Cast"
and "Chavez" all suggesting XETNT per
http://www.promomediosinaloa.com/lmm/index.shtml. Great signal and
new log. (TROMP-MI)
700 XEDKR Guadalajara, Jal - 1100 UTC 9/12/11 - Good under phased WLW
playing bits of Johny Cash music such as "Walk the Line" with SS
announcer commenting on the artist and into legal IDs after TOH with
several "Radio Red" (in accented English) slogans thrown in between.
New log. (TROMP-MI)
710 XEDP Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chi - 1109 UTC 9/5/11 - Strong with soft
SS song then drawn out callsign and frequency check and "La Ranchera"
slogan at 1109 UTC. New log. (TROMP-MI)
710 KGNC Amarillo, TX. - 1117 UTC 9/14/11 - With sports news read by
local announcer and local ads between headlines, signal fair and
nearly all alone on the frequency. Traffic and weather at 1120 UTC.
New log. (TROMP-MI)
730 KKDA Grand Prairie, TX. - 1108 UTC 9/5/11 - "Soul 73" with - you
guessed it - soul music. 500 watts peaking good at times but
suffering from a strong het on 729 khz and unknown SS station
underneath. Noted again on 9/13/11 very strong at 1058 UTC with local
announcer talking about upcoming local events including the "KKDA
Family Reunion". Relogs (TROMP-MI)
740 KCMC Texarkana, TX. - 1100 UTC 9/13/11 - With local ads for
Texarkana before leading up to ID at TOH, poor. New log. (TROMP-MI)
750 KHWG Fallon, NV. - 1100 UTC 9/14/11 - C/W song leading up to TOH
with "You're traveling with K-HOG, Classic Country, K-H-W-G...", even
signal with phased down WSB with WTHQ also mixed in. Signal
dominating by 1110 UTC with a "hawg" ID with pig snort sound effects.
Relog. (TROMP-MI)
760 XEABC (mwlist.org says San Sebastián Chimalpa, while the IRCA
Mexican Log says Los Reyes de la Paz), Mex. - 1100 UTC 9/13/11 - Good
under phased WJR with SS talk and ID finally given at 1102 UTC "ex eh
a bay-say, ah bay-say radio". New log (TROMP-MI)
790 WMC Memphis, TN. - 1100 UTC 9/13/11 - C/W music with TOH ID
"Country Legends, W-M-C Memphis" and right into another c/w song,
difficult copy under WBBM IBOC hash. New log. (TROMP-MI)
1020 KMMQ Plattsmouth, NE - 0403 UTC 9/5/11 - With SS talk and music,
thanks to Dean @ #MWDX for confirming audio on this one and for the
new log. (TROMP-MI)
1070 KNX Los Angeles, CA. - 1126 UTC 9/5/11 - Very good near
local-like signal for a few minutes with local weather, time check,
and into "Your Money, your life" segment. Relog but never this good!
(TROMP-MI)
1030 KCTA Corpus Christi, TX. - 1059 UTC 9/5/11 - Terrible copy under
WHO's hash maker, but caught a mention of "kctaradio.com" and into IRN
USA Radio News at TOH for a new log. (TROMP-MI)
1190 WSQR Sycamore, IL. - 1123 UTC 9/5/11 - With classic rock music,
local IDs and local morning call-in show. New log. (TROMP-MI)
1270 KGNM St. Joseph, MO. - 1100 UTC 9/5/11 - With contemporary
Christian music and "We're your hometown Christian radio station",
good. New log. (TROMP-MI)
1570 XERF Ciudad Acuña, Coah. - 1100 UTC 9/5/11 - Poor under WBGX with
mention of Ciudad Acuña and Mexico with "La Poderosa" slogan and into
Mexican National Anthem at 1101 UTC. New log. (TROMP-MI)
1590 KVGB Great Bend, KS. - 1100 UTC 9/5/11 - Good signal at TOH with
"K-V-G-B, The Voice of the Golden Belt, K-V-G-B, 15-90 K-V-G-B Great
Bend. An employee owned equal radio station." and into ABC News.
New log. (TROMP-MI)
1590 WIXK New Richmond, WI. - 1102 UTC 9/5/11 - Now over KVGB with
local weather and spot for Twins/White Sox Labor Day doubleheader and
ad for Wisconsin Radio Network. New log. (TROMP-MI)
1690 KDDZ Arvada, CO. - 1059 UTC 9/5/11 - No official ID but Radio
Disney clearly heard under WVON dead air, so KDDZ for a new log.
Disney nearly dominating the channel by 1114 UTC, long after WVON
modulation returned. (TROMP-MI)
1700 - XEPE (TENT) - 1101 UTC 9/5/11 - Heard two ESPN's out of sync by
a few seconds (national commercials included). One obviously KBGG,
but the other? Besides XEPE, I couldn't find any other ESPNs listed
for 1700. Would be a new log if I could confirm it. (TROMP-MI)
