Hello All,
Asian signals seemed fairly strong this morning around 1330, but TP
propagation slowly went downhill from there, with "sunrise enhancement"
never really getting out of the gate. Second-tier Asian stations like
729-China, 756-CNR1 and 1035-CNR1 tended to fizzle out around 1400, leaving only the
"big gun" TP's to hang around until the band folded early (around 1515).
CRI-1044 was fairly vibrant with its Japanese program at 1445, and
overachiever 936-Anhui again kept up a fairly decent signal level until Asian
propagation collapsed.
738-Taiwan Fisheries (BEL2) continues to have a clean signal with a
pure sine-wave carrier-- quite a change after many months of ragged carriers
and throbbing hum. 657-Pyongyang is now the only "big gun" TP remaining
with transmitter issues, and it's quite a funny problem-- the high audio
frequency cutoff makes the tirade shouters sound like they have a gag in their
mouths. Maybe the late season has some fringe benefits after all?
The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5"
loopstick) inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the back
yard). A modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB spotting
receiver:
