[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-24

Hello All,

Despite the unfavorable solar conditions some Asiatic TP's were
received with decent strength here this morning, but it was not one of the
season's better sessions. Richard's 594-JOAK came in at a good level, and
747-JOIB and 828-JOBB also made the trip quite nicely-- but second-tier TP audio
was rare, with only a few traces from 558-HLQH (presumed, no 603 //
available) and 936-Anhui. Nigel's South Pacific DX did not show up in this DU-dead
zone, of course.
Around 1300 the band had fair audio from 594, 747 and 828, but all
TP's (and carriers) suddenly faded out here from 1315-1345. After this, there
was a slow recovery of audio from the NHK "big guns" during sunrise
enhancement from 1345-1445, along with a few weak appearances from 558, 639, 657,
738, 936, 972 and 1134. The star of the morning was again 594-JOAK, having
a vibrant signal from 1415-1445 (even though it didn't reach yesterday's
legendary level). The mediocre overall session was probably about the best
that could be expected with the solar index meltdown, and hopefully Bruce
and Chuck (at Grayland) will have some enhanced DU propagation to compensate
for the drop off in Asian DX.

The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5"
loopstick) inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC loop (in the rainy back yard). A
modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB spotting receiver:

558 HLQH Daegu, S. Korea (presumed) Fair music at 1408, but no
603 // available to confirm identity
594  JOAK  Tokyo, Japan  Good Japanese interview  program at 1415;
         strong signal throughout sunrise enhancement

639 CNR1 China Snychros Weak Chinese speech at 1441
657 Pyongyang BS, N. Korea Wispy Korean tirade in noise at 1437
729 UnID Moderate carrier during sunrise enhancement; probably
          JOCK, considering Japanese-slanted propagation
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Poor-fair Chinese speech at 1329
747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Fair-good Japanese music in KXL
          splatter around 1405 _http://www.mediafire.com/?dqdszkb8fn31zvs_
(http://www.mediafire.com/?dqdszkb8fn31zvs)
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Good Japanese speech at 1355; signal in
          and out during sunrise enhancement
936 Anhui, China (presumed) Weak music during peak enhancement
972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Finally produced decent Korean audio
          before band collapse around 1450
1134 UnID Threshold audio from a presumed JOQR in and out of
          domestic splatter throughout sunrise enhancement

73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
