[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-18

Hello All,

For some strange reason, the Asian TP propagation here this morning
seemed quite a bit better than what Nick (and Richard and Bill) reported.
Although it definitely wasn't one of the season's best sessions, it did
provide some interesting signals on certain frequencies.

The 639-CNR1 mystery co-channel chose this morning to rise up and be
heard, and it became dominant over a weakened CNR1 for about 3 minutes,
around 1412. Because of its unusual strength it became clear that the mystery
station's language was not Korean after all, and a check of the 1134 KBS3
parallel confirmed that it was not the 50 kw KBS3 station on the frequency.
A check of 594-NHK1 likewise confirmed that it was not an NHK1 station. The
language sounds similar to one of the Southeast Asian dialects broadcast
on 1575-VOA, but if anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate any leads:

Besides the 639 mystery the low-band Asiatic TP's were fairly strong
this morning, with the usual regulars (639-CNR1, 648-VOR, 657- Pyongyang)
putting in decent signals. Mid-band regulars like 1044-CRI, 1053-Jammer and
1134-KBS were vibrant at times, and there were traces of audio on Chinese
frequencies like 756 and 936. The Japanese didn't sound so strong, however.
In summary, it was a fairly average morning here for mid-October, but with
some extra excitement because of the 639 mystery station's strong fade-in.

The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5"
loopstick) inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the 36
degree back yard). A modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB
spotting receiver:
