Hello All,
As Dennis noted, the TP propagation took a drastic downturn this morning,
and it was the worst day of September for Asiatic propagation here. At the
beginning it seemed like the TP's would stay in hibernation, but since the
9' loop had never been "shut out" in TP reception before, it became kind of
a fun challenge to see what it could receive on such a poor morning.
It was kind of a moral victory when the 1053-Korean Jammer broke
through the noise with a fair signal at 1333, followed by 594-JOAK, and a weak
mix on 1134 kHz. 1566-HLAZ was in and out with poor to fair audio at this
time, and 828-JOBB also made it above the noise level, as did 747-JOIB. It
was certainly nothing to shout about, but with the TP conditions practically
in rigor mortis, it was fun chasing rare Asiatic audio. The frightful
conditions were no match for the scary-sized loop.
The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick)
inductively coupled to a 9' PVC tuned passive loop in the back yard:
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Rising above the noise level at 1334; the best of
the near-
comatose Japanese this morning

666 JOBK Osaka, Japan Threshold audio around 1315; gone very quickly
747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Weak audio no match for KXL splatter at 1340
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Barely above the noise level around 1325
1053 Korean Jammer Fair signal breaking through the 1050 splatter at
1333;
the "strongest" TP received this morning

1134 UnID Weak mix, apparently JOQR-KBS, rising above noise level at 1341
1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Poor to fair audio with Japanese religious
program
1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Threshold audio around 1314
73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
