[IRCA] 900 WATK WI new at Burnt River ON

WFNI 1070 Indy is strong tonight with CHOK on 1070. WTIC IBOC has been reported off tonight.

Most cool - 900 WATK in Antigo WI, briefly overpowering CHML at 2003 EDT. A new catch here, and only 250 watts on its day pattern. I'm presuming this was prior to their local sunset, as it was bright here an hour earlier as I finished setting up a temporary wire more or less due west.

I've never had a BOG out that direction becaudse I'm on the east shoreline of Four Mile Lake. Even though my east wires have been unterminated, I have long suspected they favor east versus west. This was an experiment to see if west will somehow favour east. So far, it's a mixed bag, but in tghe hour following local sunset I did well to IL and WI and now Winnipeg is stronger than Montreal on 990, and Yorkton SA is dominant on 940 - for examples.

I'm here at Burnt River (ON) until Thursday morning. This will probably be the only time I get the wire out there until next winter, as the ice is beginning to look unsafe. I skied out on cross country skis, to spread out my weight, and I estimate at least a foot of ice in most places. The problem is this is in most places. Already some holes are appearing, and there's a lot of black spots with candle ice. I'd estimate the lake could be three weeks ahead of the norm for breaking up - break-up is usually the first or second week of April. I haven't put outr the wire previously in winter becxause of snowmobiles. But I've noticed very little traffic that way this winter on weekdays, and I can't imagine many on the lake at this stage of the season, lot of water patches atop the ice. I'll see how this fares, reception-wise, and if it's worthwhile I'll try this again when the lake freezes over next season - usually by late December to early January. I'll probably do some terminati!
ons to the BOGs east of me as well when I install new ones before the spring growth arrives (I lay it right on the ground and raise the end up a foot or so tied to a tree).
