I'd totally forgotten about that weird touchy feely theme music. I don't
listen to radio talk shows. I think a lot of the people call just to hear
their voice come out of the radio. Radio talk shows aren't educational or
an
open forum for the public to express their feelings or ideas any more.
They're purely for entertainment purposes. Unfortunately whoever is the
most
over the top or trashes the same people or political party day after day
get
the best ratings.

Remember that creepy theme song?
"Someone to talk to
Someone to care
Someone you know
Who will always be there
Tune in
Turn on
Talknet
We care"
I always knew the "callers" (all sounding between 25 and 54, natch)
were prescreened and heavily coached: no nutjobs, ramblers, etc. They
would articulately and promptly state their case, and then all-wise
Bruce would advise them what to do.
NBC Talknet was in the vanguard of turning AM radio into what it is
today, imho.
