Re: [IRCA] Radio Shack/Terk Technology AM-1000 and Select-a-Tenna

Thanks Kevin. First time I've seen the Tecsun loops, thanks for the link.
Interesting indeed. I especially like the instructions:

-----------
1. Connect the AN-100 medium wave annular antenna to the audio modulator,
car radio or medium wave line-in socket of BCL radio. If the radio without
medium wave line-in socket, the annular antenna can be placed nearby the
radio and closed to the radio's MW build-in antenna.

2. Set the radio at medium wave band. Then roll the tunable button on AN-100
medium wave annular antenna to receive the best frequency signal until the
sound from broadcasting channel is clear and stable.

3. AN-100 medium wave annular antenna can perform it's best function by
moving to the right direction.

-----------

It looks like you will get either the AN-100 _or_ AN200 for your
order...with potentially different ULR mounting options on each. Amazing
price.

Hi Dennis:

I own two Terk loops and recommend them as well. The Sony 7600GR sits in
it like a cradle - Bruce has a great idea with heavy-duty velcro.

Per http://www.radiointel.com/review-2loop.htm the Tertk and
Select-A-Tenna are about the same, with the performance nod going to the
Terk, which is also a lot cheaper. I prefer the looks of the Terk as
well, although the now-discontinued RS model has the tuning cap on the
outside, which I think would be more convenient.

There are some VERY interesting looking Tecsun models on ebay - see
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-TECSUN-AN-100-AN-200-TUNABLE-MW-AM-LOOP-ANTENNA_W0QQ
itemZ110294274523QQcmdZViewItem
or look for the Tecsun AN-100 and AN-200 models. These are also 9 inches
in diameter, so their performance is likely to be the same at the Terk and
Select-A-Tenna models. Select-A-Tenna also has an active antenna option
that might be more flexible, but not sure they're worth as much as they
are charging.
