[IRCA] TPs for 24 August 2008....exceptional!

Exceptionally good morning for Chinese stations!  Everywhere, I was hearing CNR1
programming.  Channel after channel,
especially on the upper half of the band.
I monitored between 12:08 and 14:30.
Things began pretty slow without a lot of useable audio.  The LW Russians were there on 153, 180, 189,
234, 243, and 279.

IBOC is a real problem early on, making, perhaps, getting up
too early a waste of time.  Especially
strong IBOC is noted on 900 and around 660.
This is not heard later (around 14:00).

Japan
also came in very well later on, and especially the upper half….lots of 2nd
and 3rd tier NHK2 stations, for example.  These included 1602, 1593, and even 1539 (100
watts), 1467, 1386, etc.

The best DU late presentation.  The X-band was well heard with audio on 1611
(C&W music.  No ID at 14:00.
Must be 4DB.  Another cochannel
with DU talk).  1620 had DU accented
talk.  1629 and 1638  with DU talk, the latter with some cochannel
interference.  1665 had Greek at 14:04, and Radio Brisvaani on 1701.  Not had!
Also noted Brisbane on 612
at 13:51 and 1548 at 13:50 (with a het on around 1547.9).  Also 774 cochannel NHK2 at 14:07.

I did hear a lot of hets above or below the nominal
frequencies….I’m thinking most of these are Filipino.

Still had Olympic programming on most of the Chinese
stations.  I wonder whether CNR1 and CNR2
were in // this morning as I heard the same programming on many of the CNR2
channels.

\

North Koreans were there with decent signals.  1053, 656.94,

No sign of MW Russians today.

A few Filipinos noted today (684 at 14:15).
1530.  666 also with multiple
cochannels.

VOA Thailand on 1575 strong today

1566    HLAZ
the usual exceptional signals, and the oriental cochannel still there at 13:21.

By the way, I’ve filled a 250 GB ext HD already!

A very satisfying morning!
