Re: [IRCA] Movie question, but not OT
E'er we forget Outer Limits 60s episode, "Galaxy Being", filmed largely
in/around, IIRC, Mt. Hollywood TV site. Monitors galore and - yes! - great big
Motorola VHF mitters w/speaker in center, doubtless VHF analog Lo-Band, last
truly decent form of VHF communication. P-25? For what, P-25? APCO standards?
Dull.
Check out Rambo II. Yeah, even early mid-life, actor Brian Dennehy had no
neck. But N. Vietnamese interrogators had two FAA green-panel R-388s in
secret jungle compound!
Look closely at "The Falcon and the Snowman" - couple R-388s inna TRW
'secure vault'.
Solely for hardcore receiver maniacs:
Several films, mid-90s to present feature rack drawers from TMC DDR-5 Dual
Diversity Receivers. Early versions known as AN/FRR-60, solid state w/NIXIE
readouts dubbed FRR-85. Seen by sharp eyes for fleeting instants.
"The Good Shepherd", '06, Tech Control, CIA HQ, several frames of SP-600,
left side of rack cabinets along w/possible FRR-60 synth drawer to right.
Early Bond? Racal RA-17s. Ho hum. But doesn't the latest Bond feature
RA-17s as well?
What they trying, tell us?

And the rest of you are just visiting."

There is some noir movie from the late 40s-early 50s (which I can't remember
the name of) that had a murder in it and a KPIX television truck pulled
up...a 1930s vintage paneled van. I got a good chuckle. I bet the people
at Channel 5 in San Francisco would too.
