[IRCA] Full Alignment Brings Eton E100 ULR Up to SRF-T615 Level in Sensitivity

Hello All,
 
     Eton has apparently changed the interior design of  the E100 Ultralight 
radio model, which now allows for full alignment of both the  high and low 
sections of the AM band.  This alignment, once performed,  brought the 
sensitivity up to the level of the top-rated Sony SRF-T615  here.
 
     The loopstick now has a movable coil, which can be  shifted to peak a 
600 kHz signal (previously impossible).  Although the  coil form bumps into a 
plastic bracket before the peak is reached, the bracket  can be cut off to allow 
full peaking at 600 kHz.  This greatly improves low  band performance.
 
     High band peaking requires some serious  disassembly, unlike the 
previous E100 model.  The back circuit board must  be flipped over to reveal the 1400 
kHz trimmer capacitor, which is the red  cross-slotted trimmer at the center 
of the right edge of the circuit  board.
 
     For those who can perform the full alignment on  these new E100 models, 
the effort is well worth it.  Selectivity was  already equal to the best in 
digital ULR's (the DT-210V), and with alignment,  sensitivity is also equal to 
the best in ULR's (the  SRF-T615).  These stellar qualities, when combined with 
the  outstanding features of the E100 (superior memory capacity, 1 kHz  
tuning, pushbutton display lighting, etc.)  make the new E100, when  fully aligned, 
a very serious competitor for top ULR honors.
