Re: [IRCA] IRCA 44-43-7 1520

1520 Buffalo runs on 50KW but being on the high end
might suffer from groundwave deterioration in a
shorter distance than a station at the lower end like
550 with only 5K therefore letting a skip show up
outsde the local signal field as was the case with
1540 CHIN in Toronto with TX in Mississauga some 20
miles from citycentre letting in 1540 from Albany
before LSS. 1520 Buffalo is also directioally on an
east -west pattern making it weak towards the north. On
the other hand when WWKB was WKBW back in the sixties
they were the strongest skip into the Maritime
provinces and even mentioned on the air once that
someone in Scandinavia was listening to them when they
still played good old R&R on the Joey Reynolds Show on
" 1520 KB Radio "In mid-winter on cold days it was
possible to listen to them all day in Moncton NB some
800 mies away on a small 8 transistor radio. Those were
the DX days. Bill im BC
