Pat,

The wal-wart works good, but it's just until I buy a proper charger.  I check the voltage with a volt meter and when the voltage is around 13 volts its unplugged.  I ran a Halloween lantern the other night with the battery and the voltage dropped to 5 volts.  When I was in Costco eating a $1.50 polish dog and drinking a coke, I noticed that they have some nice looking batteries and some of them were yellow too.  

When you do get the right battery Pat, think how nice it will be when the power goes out.  It should be nice and quiet with the electric fence being off and other noisy electric gadgets in your area are off too.
