HD is currently running less power typcially than analog. All early
indications have been that the HD radio antennas are puny, and
therefore would work less well also, therefore right there two negative
indications.

Of course some of those people have to actually buy HD radios first,
which they have no real need to do if they can now hear the analog, and
which they'll probably return if they can't hear the analog now and
expect to heard the digital.
