Patrick,
On reflection, yes, a two-foot vertical segment of your beverage could
have a noticeable effect on its nulling properties.
Hard to explain in a few words why a two-foot section of wire in a
beverage is going to behave differently from a two-foot length of wire
just connected to your R8B's antenna input. It just would.
But it isn't something necessarily bad. Keep experimenting.
