It's hard to believe it when you say that you can
hear them all the way from a city so far away in
Cuba just during the day with a power of only
thirty K in the sunny hot month of May

Bill,

*Are you questioning my integrity? I find it a bit hard to
believe myself, but it (RR-570) is/was there.

Yesterday, "Doc" Hardester (JAX, NC) tried 570 and could
hear the time ticks, but not the minute marker pip nor
the "RR" Morse IDs.

Today, I see the most minimal 1-Hz carrier beat between
WDOX and CMDC. Yesterday, I could hear the pips, RR IDs,
and a bit of Spanish "riding in" on/under WDOX's carrier
while using one of my Marconis. Today, using my SM-2,
when I null WDOX the resultant is just the inherent
white noise of the SM-2 amplifier.

So reception of CMDC seems to be also dependent of move-
ment of weather fronts in/out of eastern NC. That's true
of other receptions, too.

I was going to try to get an LOBS to CMDC today, but it's
so weak as to be futile. Basically, I speculated that
CMDC was reaching the Outer Banks of North Carolina by
seawave, and then being refracted westward by the sea/land
discontinuity. That being the case, the LOBS ought to be
skewed to a indeterminant point east of here.

*I need to clarify that, soften it. I don't see it as a
frontal attack on my integrity. IRCAers who have know me
since before IRCA's foundation, would recognized that I
try to "back up" what I claim.

So, to summarize: I've heard CMDC, or at least the
remnants of it, since the 7th, when I really investigated
the second station under WDOX.

I'm attaching an MP3 file for your scrutiny.
