Re: [IRCA] CFB (Compact Florescent Blubs)

Ca. '91, Narragansett Electric Co. offered Rhode Islanders who lived in Gold
Medallion Homes several cash savers. Fellow arrived. Politely introduced
himself. Produced massive rubber boot, one end of which he affixed to large fan,
other to door. Secured windows. Turned on fan. Calculated air leakage from home
& sealed leaks.

Next made generous proposition. Accept several CFB's, gratis, and monthly
juice bill sinks. Had interference concerns. We tested couple CFBs w/Sony 2010.
No noise. None. Offer accepted. Man left. Bill reduced.

Several remain in service today at Casa d'Amplitron. CFB noise seems case
by case matter, as w/so much else. Tried couple new bulbs, OK thus far. Still,
incandescents preferred, warmer light. Difference between piano rendition of
Ernesto Lecuona's 'la Comparsa' (incandescent) or kazoo (CFB's). Still, given
extent of my wealth - ''and it is vast" - and cheap bum tendencies, CFB's
worthy of consideration.
