AM has been in a slow death spiral for decades. First the music went to
FM, then AM Stereo was unveiled in such a way as to preclude success,
then AM sound quality was degraded by the over-manipulations of audio
by some stations and the cost-cutting and low quality of AM receivers
then the religious boadcasters discovered FM translators and took much
of their programming to FM, and now we'll have nighttime IBOC.

Either IBOC will fail miserably in the market like AM Stereo did or it
will hasten the alrady downhill slope.
