Good point Scott. I seem to recall hearing stories (unknown if true) of
stations using horizontal wire antennas in emergencies which conceivably
would improve skywave radiation. Maybe this is one for the Mythbusters. :-)

WHOW(AM) is licensed as a non-directional daytimer with 5 kW, so it 
doesn't look like any emergency antenna would do DXers much good...
