[IRCA] Great LowBand Morning

First morning DXing back home and it was a good one. Wish that I'd
gotten up at regular time, but the rack was warm and I didn't hit the
dials until 45 minutes before sunrise.... 1405 UTC. The low band was
just about as good as I've ever seen it from here and China/some
Koreans were favored over the Japanese... who were doing fairly well
themselves. High band above 1200 was just fair, for some reason.

Some of the better loggings: 621 Heilonjiang doing well, 675 Hanoi
was the best of the season, so far... very good at times, I had TP
audio on both 719.844 and 720... KCBS and CNR, 738 almost
certainly//1143 Taiwan Fisheries. Both were in well at times, but
never both good at same time... when one was good and the other poor,
they seemed in // (??), 774 and 828 were both unlistenable at times
with the CHinese signals being at last equal with the very strong
JJs. I swear that there were at least four separate echos on CNR2. It
sounded like shouting down a verrry deep well. After dawn, I noted
738 had become KBS and was // to 756. I also had the first audio in
quite a while out of 1557, presumed WYFR. The most interesting
semi-logging was Japanese on 702. There are two moderate-size NHK2s
there, but this JJ was not // either NHK Service. I'm "almost
certain" its an unlisted JJ Service from either the Koreas or
China. I think that I'll send a recording and an inquiry to the
Chinese. Well after LSR, 702 was // to NHK2. Hummmmmm.

Lastly, the band stayed in for at least an hour past dawn..... my
stomach and bladder finally forced me to quit. However, as I type
this at almost 11AM, I've still got a het on 1566. 774 lasted as a
het until 10:40AM (1740 UT) and then was finally gone. HLAZ presumed
is beginning to disappear briefly before fighting its way back. If it
will just hang in a few more minutes, I will have had it last until
noon, local standard time!!!

Can't wait to hear what Patrick vacuumed up.....

P.S.
To Guy and others with a new Eton E-1, it is possible to overload
that puppy. When I turned it on this AM, I accidentally had 20 dB of
outboard RF amplifier, and the E-1s own pre-amp on... and everything
was hooked to my 65' x 100' EWE pointed at a huge number of
Vancouver's 50 kW stations, 20 sea miles away!!! Seemed like I had
four or five distorted signals mixing alllll over the dial. When I
turned off alla the extra RF amps, the E-1 became the DXing
sweetheart that it really is............
