Re: [IRCA] Dump AM IBOC, Move the AM Band, re:HDTV comment

Perhaps I am blessed with a good HDTV setup, LG receivers and Direct TV
(there is no cable run to houses on my dead end street), and a quick flip
between ESPN analog and ESPN HD while watching the Bears steal last night's
game is all that it takes to see a real difference and to not want to watch
it on analog if again if HD is available. I find the same true for baseball,
basketball, and even hockey and golf, not to mention shows with nice scenery
like Lost (which is one of very few series I ever watch).

HDTV runied a my active and rather successful UHF DXing hobby due to
basically doubling the ammount of my locals so I had reasons to hate it, but
then I saw it as being for the betterment of our visual enjoyment. I
honestly think that there were more motivations for HDTV than just selling
more TV's.

Now for FM IBOC..I cannot hear much of a difference (I personally don't own
any HD radios) but maybe the extra subchannels will be useful in the
longrun.

AM IBOC doesn't have any subchannels and like FM, do people really care if
something sounds a bit better ?

So..I feel..AM IBOC flops horribly, FM IBOC might make it or might not, and
HDTV is a nice improvement and will make it. Americans are much more
concerned about visual pleasures than slightly better audio.
