One sleek mp3 recorder I like using is Rogue Amoeba's Audio HiJack Pro. It
allows me to rip audio from any audio input or application. But it doesn't
have scheduling, which I don't need anyway. I'm doing most of my sessions
live and with a dedicated mp3 player/recorder (one from iRiver).

Audiocorder OSX from Blackcat Systems does scheduled recording, but cannot
save in mp3 or any compressed audio directly.

An intriguing audio recorder which relies on iCal for session scheduling is
WireTap Pro by Ambrosia Software, though I'm not at all familiar with it.

SoundStudio 3, from Freeverse is not cheap, but according to its description
it can make timer and vox recordings and has plenty of editing features too.

I'd appreciate any feedback from other Mac users on this topic,
