As conditions improve for propagation, it might be worth a try to hear the
suspected Cuban jammer on 1550kHz, against WRHC Coral Gables. Sounding
like a whooping siren, it can often be heard here fading over/under
WRHC. So far reports of it have been mostly local, but times are improving
for it to get out better.
For the record, this is different from the Wobbler. It is an audio
whooping sound modulating a more or less stable carrier, whereas the
Wobblers are widely fluctuating carriers producing audio artifacts by
beating against local carriers. The Wobblers tend to produce reception
results much farther afield than has been observed for the whooping
jammer. But the jammer is a very distinctive sound, not unlike some used
for organized DX Tests, which have proven quite effective.
