Hi, Bruce. I was at it as always this morning from 13:08 until 14:20. Very disturbed conditions with A15/K5. Nonetheless, still managed 12 audios. The best being on the top of the band. Here 1566 at 13:43 was playing Bob Dylan....sure didn't sound like HLAZ. Sure enough, there was no beam change at 13:45 (normal for HLAZ), and at 13:51 there was a nice English ID for "15 double 6 AM". Presumably 3NE Wangaratta. They were at a very nice level through to just before 14:00. The other highlight was good audio (up to 8/10) from Radio Lebanon (all of 400 watts) on 1638 with Arabic music, but also fading down before the TOH. A first for me in Victoria, but heard at Grayland. Wonder how John Bryant's doing down in Grayland this weekend? Now there are 2 Radio Lebanon's listed....one in Melbourne and one in Sydney. Do they carry identical programming? Any way to tell the two apart? With the conditions so disturbed, it was interesting to see the complete absence of HLAZ. I also had weak audio on 1611, 972, 936 (at 14:05), 828 (Japan briefly came up after 14:00) NHK2, 774, 747 (both NHK2), 738 (not sure), 612 (4QR at 14:08), 594 (NHK1) still there at 14:15, and 585 with weak English at 14:11. Not sure who this was, but probably an Aussie.
All in all a poor morning, but very exciting to hear Radio Lebanon and 3NE. Goes to show that one shouldn't make assumptions about what's going to be heard!...........Walt.
