I think the 8 foot ones are like $16-$18, which if I cut one in half it
would only be $8-$9. I may have to do that. I know the radio shack ones
are not solid copper, but copper clad. They don't last forever. The 8
foot ones are copper clad too. So not much copper is used in making
them. But probably iron/steel has gone up a lot too. I generally use
copper pipe for grounds, but over there by the roots of the tree, the
soil is tougher to get through. The ground rods go in better.
