*** At the annual LBI DXpeditions, we've used a fan of 3 or 4 15-20'
radials from ther terminations point. This is on the beach, where we
just can't get a ground rod to provide a good ground - we'd probably
need one 15' long. The radials have worked extremely well. There are
some cases where a ground rod is preferable, and there are some places
where a ground rod is minimal to no effort, such as Patrick's swamps.
But the fan of radials is a very effective and easy substitute.
