Re: [IRCA] QSLs

Bob,

Thanks for your comments. Maybe we need to add something more regarding
the Ric Heald award then.
As far as the QSLs go, there is a value on them by the money some are
getting on ebay. However, it is a very personal thing. Even in
broadcasting, stations do not keep the history. They toss it. When Bob
Rusk worked at KSWB, the GM tossed all the old jingles and a lot of the
early history of the station when they changed frequency from 930 to
840. Bob brought it home. I still have it. I cannot play the IDs as they
are on 4 track, but at least I have them. In reality, stations toss
their historic call letters away at a whim, so maybe few care about
broadcasting history, including QSLs. I have been surprised how often a
station has no clue on their history. You might be right. Someone
looking at a QSL down the road saying "Gee, that is interesting", and
that is it. Most people look at "what is now and how much money they can
make", not what their grandfather did. It is a different World. I have a
tendecy to live a bit in the past. I always have been. I think a lot of
us DXers do, as we remember when DX was different. Now even getting a
QSL out of a station is a chore. But who knows, things change. I am not
giving up on QSLing or the hobby. It is too much of my life. But how
the future generations view DXing, I guess is up to them.
