Seeing as they've been operating (albeit illegally) in the x-band for years
out of their Brooklyn head office, I wonder if the Chabad-Lubavitchers are
behind this application? I would suspect no, as one of the stipulations in
the CRTC's ruling is:
"15% of the weekly air time would be devoted to programs produced by other
religious groups. The balanced programming would include programs
originating with the Communauté Catholique Congolaise de Montréal and the
Association socio-culturelle bulgare. Other spoken word programming would
include La religion au Québec, a review of the various aspects of religion
within Quebec geopolitics, and Hindu tradition Sanatan Dharma, a program
about various aspects of Hinduism."
Would that last program be in EE, FF or Hindi?
So along with the new Concordia University station on 1690, and CJWI-1610,
Montreal will be home to THREE x-banders! Unless you count TIS/HAR's, I
can't think of any other market with more than one x-band station.

power of 1,000 watts, day and night.

With all the Canadians deserting the AM band, why would they want a
graveyarder frequency? They could have gotten CFCF's old 600, 1470
(ex-CKO), 1410 (ex-CFMB), or 850 (ex-CKVL)
