Charlie,

It sounds like the R8 would do better running it on 12v than the SPR4
then. I used to have a gelpack unit I bought. But after several times of
charging it, it died, as it would not hold a charge any longer. I have
never replaced it. Once in a while in the Winter we lose power for a
period of time on the coast. I thought it would be nice once again to
use the R8 when the power was off.
