In SW PA and
northern WV, I regularly hear a ~ 1 kHz het on 1630 at night, and until as late
as 10 am on winter mornings. It direction-finds toward the DC/VA area from me,
roughly SE. We had considerable discussion of this on the NRC list 2 yrs
ago...someone in PA measured the frequency...various people heard it in the
east...it's still there, unchanged over 2 years...never did nail down what/where
it is...
I know it is not
from our 20-mile-distant 1630 TIS in Washington, PA, b/c it behaves as skywave.
Could others listen for it? Perhaps we can pinpoint a location.
