*** I've briefly used Drakes and am certainly impressed. But the prices
used for even the R8 have increased so much since the announcements
were made that the series was being discontinued that I can't justify a
used Drake ( and unless you can see it and check it out in person,
condition is always a gamble ) at those prices vs. a new Palstar, which
Gerry Thomas' comparisons suggest is right in the same ballpark in most
respects, when it's cheaper or about the same price as most of the R8's
out there used. And for me the extremely compact size of the Palstar is
also an attraction.

But as I said before - I'm not in the situation you are, and if I were,
I'd be looking for a noise blanker as well, although I understand there
are some good separate units available as well.
