[IRCA] TP 29 Oct Victoria version.

Everyone seems to have agreed that this morning wasn't quite like yesterday. My loggings were somewhat odd. On the one hand, there were still many stations that faded up to a solid readable level at one time or another. On the other hand, there was a real lack of low level signals, of mysterious Chinese, and no North Koreans. (also odd: 540 720 900 were exceptions) Lots of carriers with snippets of audio though.

I'm omitting much detail of the regular powerhouses unless there's something unusual, By now, we know who they are and what they speak.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

558 HLQH 1441UT

594 JOAK western opera (!) 1430UT;

603 HLSA 1444UT

639 CNR1 1428UT

738 Taiwan Fisheries 1443UT

747 JOIB 1427UT

756 CNR1 1456UT; a late arrival, murky but powerful

774 JOUB 1445UT

873 JOGB 1441UT

945 CNR1 1446UT another late arrival

972 HLCA 1438UT

1287 JOHR 1428UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

567 JOIK //594 1447UT

828 JOBB not too strong today 1427UT

837 ballad 1446UT; assumed China

963 CRI //1323 1425UT

1242 JOLF man and woman, Japanese, 1454UT also late to the party

1566 HLAZ late to party at 1447UT and quickly faded

1575 likely VoA, SE Asian language 1420UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

612 4QR DU English, man talking to another man on phone 1421UT

621 Heilongjiang RGD female vocal //900 1428UT

693 JOAB 1443UT, //774 with talk, battling with evil 690 splatter

702 woman talking, Chinese intonation? 1432UT

711 two stations, one Korean one Chinese? 1422UT

720 woman in Chinese 1425UT interviewing another woman?

981 CNR1 man //639 1424UT

1017 CRI stringed instrument //5965 1456UT

1323 CRI woman in Russian //963 1425UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

540 CNR1 woman singing //945 over man talking with echoes 1429UT

576 NHK1 female opera //594 1440UT

765 woman talking, Chinese intonation? 1426UT

864 a mess, maybe Japanese talk by man at 1437UT

900 Heilongjiang RGD female vocal music //621 1428UT, when domestics seemed to fade down.

1098 CNR1 man and woman //639 1427UT

1143 Taiwan Fisheries man talking //738 1449UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

 531 585 648 657 666 675 729 783 801 819 846 855 909 918 927 936 999 1008 1026 1035  1053 1089 1107 1116 1134 1179 1215  1296 1305  1341  1359 1377 1422  1557    seemed to be Asian;
nothing else seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
