[IRCA] TP 28 Oct Victoria version.

Finally gave up digging through this mornings files; one could dig all the way to .... China.

Another mad morning, with I think a record number of totally readable signals from several countries. One small mercy, things faded out fairly soon after 1500UT

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

567 JOIK "NHK rajio" mention by man 1415UT

594 JOAK man in Japanese over woman in Chinese? 1415UT;

603 HLSA woman in Korean //558 1416UT

639 CNR1 man in Chinese //945, 1414UT

747 JOIB man and woman in Japanese 1416UT

756 CNR1 man in Chinese // 639, pips, time check 1430UT

774 JOUB man and woman in Japanese 1419UT

819 N. Korea presumed female operatic choral singing 1424UT

828 JOBB woman in Japanese 1416UT

945 CNR1 man and woman in Chinese //1098 1433UT

972 HLCA woman in Korean,1415UT, something else underneath also

1098 CNR1 man // 945 1433UT

1098 CNR11? man singing a capella, sounded almost Arabic, solid for about a minute 1432UT, no shortwave parallels available and I've crashed the CNR website.

1287 JOHB two men Japanese 1449UT

1377 CNR1 man //1098 at this level for a short time 1445-6UT

1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1434UT

1566 Chinese jammer? pop music, also on north Flag, drowning HLAZ 1443UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

531 JOQG man //594 1429UT

558 HLQH ballad //603 1436UT

621 echoey woman in Chinese 1435UT

657 N. Korea female operatic singing //855 1417UT

675 woman SE Asian language 1418UT, Vietnam assumed

693 JOAB //others 1430UT

738 man in Korean 1430UT, then fading under jazzy piano; HLKR? Fisheries?

855 N. Korea female operatic singing //657 1419UT

873 JOGB woman //747 1414UT

963 CRI female rock vocal //1323 1438UT

1044 CRI woman in Japanese 1429UT

1206 Yanbian woman singing , man in Korean 1416-7UT

1242 JOLF man Japanese 1436UT

1305 man in Chinese 1432UT

1323 CRI female rock vocal //963 1438UT

1593 CNR1 1441UT //various

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

576 NHK1 pair man //594 1433UT; new here?

585 JOPG man //594 1426UT; someone else too.

666 JOBK man in Japanese 1431UT

846 man and woman in Chinese 1450UT

864 man in Japanese 1433UT

891 monster carrier, but only weakish JOHK man //594 1431UT

918 echoey Chinese 1436UT

954 man in Japanese rising above something else 1450UT

1017 CRI Chinese lessons by the sound of it //5965 1450UT

1026 pop music, woman in Chinese 1427UT

1089 man in Chinese; also pop vocal not //NHK2 1426UT

1368 woman in Chinese 1443UT

1575 Voice of America IDs by man, Yankee Doodle 1430UT; suspect was stronger, but I didn't catch it

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

702 woman talking, Chinese intonation, oriental stringed music 1418UT

702 NHK2 woman //774 1418UT

711 man talking, Korean? 1431UT, but Chinese also?

720 man in Chinese poking through KFIR 1432UT; didn't have time to check other 10kHz channels consistently

981 CNR1 man talking //945 1429UT

999 man and woman in Chinese? 1424UT; Anhui listed off at 1415UT

1008 woman talking, Chinese? 1452UT

1107 man talking, on north Flag, so Asian, but few hints as to language 1418UT

1116 man talking Chinese intonation, but someone else with music 1446UT

1224 Chinese sounding women, then pop music 1422UT

1314 woman Japanese? 1435UT

1386 NHK2 woman talkiknhg //774 1447UT

1458 unID man in echoey possible Chinese 1418UT, unusual choral music with extended phrases 1427UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

 729 765 882 (off channel) 927 936 1035  1053 1125 1215  1269   1359 1422 1485 1503   seemed to be Asian;
nothing much seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
