[IRCA] TP 20 Jan Victoria version
There were big guns this morning....and there were some extremely
little guns. Read on. A fair bit of upper band Japanese action today.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
774 JOUB woman in Japanese 1510UT
1566 HLAZ female vocal 1545UT; pretty near this strong at 1607UT with
piano music after man in Chinese.
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1514UT
1593 NHK2 man in Japanese 1544UT //828; mixing with CNR1
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
693 JOAB woman and man in Japanese //774 1530UT; CBU nulled as well as possible
747 JOIB woman in Japanese 1527UT //774
828 JOBB woman in Japanese //774 1511UT
1314 JOUF likely with man and woman in Japanese 1508UT
1386 NHK2 man in Japanese 1505UT //774, and better strength. Heard
best on North Flag.
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
972 man talking, possibly Korean? 1523UT
1242 JOLF heard a number of times with Japanese sounding talk, but
the cuckoo pips at 1500UT clinched it
1332 JOSF man talking //1242, slight echo; 1513-1514UT
1422 JORF likely. Japanese inflected talk by woman at 1557UT, but had
been fighting with splash for the previous hour
1458 man preaching? 1544UT. Unforuatley DZJV.ph stream is just a
placeholder at present.
1512 NHK2 s/off music box. Strongest one on this channel is 5kw directional
1539 NHK2 traces of sign off music box...most powerful NHK2
transmitter on this channel is 100 watts...
1575 unID. Beethoven's Fur Elise on piano 1559UT and across
hour. There was a note on the MW Circle list that AFN stations were
playing classical piano due to gov't shutdown....so wonder if this
was AFN rather than usual VoA.
1584 NHK1 pop vocal, then deep voiced man talking, then more pop
vocal. //594 but echoey,1545UT; a collection of 100 watt
transmitters on this channel
1593 CNR1 mostly being beaten up by NHK2 today at least until 1605UT
NHK2 shurdown.
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
558 567 603 1053 1179 1494 1503 1557 seemed to be Asian;
846 seemed to be DU
best wishes,
Nick
