I keep waiting for the west coast folk's reports on the wonderful Asian reception this morning. It was fairly good here, relatively speaking, 300 miles inland. After hearing a new JJ beacon on LF, I turned to MW and had many TP hets, along with poor audio on 774 (poor/weak audio), 1116 (poor audio) and 1593 (poor audio) between 1415-1520 utc.

Hmmm.  It was a reasonable morning here, but not outstanding compared with some of the October mornings, so that's why I kept quiet.  Still, probably pretty good if you were on the coast.

The last couple of mornings, signals have peaked fairly sharply at around 1510-1515UTC, about 15 minutes before local sunrise.  Surprising things can happen in that little time slot:  for example 1044, where for a few seconds, there was a woman clearly in JJ in spite of the 1070 local splatter.   After that, was apparently //7190, but mostly wishful thinking in the murk.  Usually, I'm lucky to get a carrier in the garbage.

And, while the big Japanese guns were not outstanding, there was audio (briefly) on channels like 1593 and 1422.

189 had TA audio last nite at 0340 utc, with music
Later, 153 and 180, Far East Russia were quite good, with the 5 time pips and short Radio Rossii jingle at 0600 utc. I wonder what location is running 153 now, as my only info, the PAL, lists Khabarovsky for 153, but it's several hours still in daylight at that location when I was hearing it. (153 is heard very often; this is not an isolated reception.) And 164 Mongolia even had a weak het for awhile, even though it should also be in full daylight then.

I've been hearing northern Japanese MW stations over an hour before their sunset when conditions are right.  Komsomolsk-na-Amure (the actual city for 153 I think) sunset is ~0700UT, so that fits with the MW experience this season.

best wishes,

Nick
