[IRCA] TP 11 May Victoria version

Mostly Asia today, and pretty good for nearly the middle of May

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1203UT, briefly at this level. Note that this isn't the Japanese pattern that points to us (unless they hit the wrong switch in the control room). In fact, the broadcast did show a boost at 1230UT, but only from non-existent to weak; local sunrise is 1237UT here

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

828 JOBB man in Japanese 1140UT //747
1323 CRI woman and man in Russian, leading into a Chinese flavored violin solo, 1145UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

747 JOIB man in Japanese 1139UT //828
774 JOUB man in Japanese, woman mentioning NHK 1058UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1151-2UT
1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1125UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

702 man and woman talking DU English inflection 1211UT
1017 acoustic guitar music, island vocals 1138UT; Tonga on late?
1089 NHK2 penny whistle solo punched through the splash //774 at 1125UT
1116 woman talking, DU English inflection
1206 woman talking, Korean inflection, likely Yanbian 1141UT, also 1152-3UT
1314 woman singing oriental flavor, 1135UT
1386 NHK2 man talking //774 1130-1UT, fading up nearly simultaneously

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

945 963 1008 1053  1107 1197SAH 1242  1269 1503 seemed to be Asian;
567 603 612 882 891 909 1098 1116 seemed DU

best wishes,

Nick
