[IRCA] TP 21 Nov Victoria version
That was quite an ear-opener around sunrise this morning, not due to
the strength of the usual suspects, but for all the odd signals that
showed up, many with better strength and readability on the north
Flag. I imagine there may be some interesting things lurking in the
recorded files, but will mostly make do with what was heard during
live listening, otherwise this will take all night.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
1566 HLAZ very strong with woman in Chinese, unidentified female
ballad underneath 1515UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
774 JOUB man in Japanese 1458UT
1593 CNR1 man and woman talking //6125, 1509, 1527, 1516UT; NHK2
sometimes struggling underneath
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1459UT
1377 CNR1 man talking //6125 1521UT
1386 NHK2 music box 1542UT
1467 male ballad, no idea, perhaps KBS1, but no parallels available; 1512UT
1494 erratic signal, man talking, almost preaching; Tagalog? 1534-7UT
1503 JOUK man talking 1534-7UT erratic fades //594 which was very
poor at this time
1593 NHK2 music box 1543UT u/strong CNR1
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
639 CNR1 man talking //6125 1522UT
1206 man mumbling in the hum 1504UT
1278 man talking slowly 1514UT, didn't quite sound Japanese
1287 man talking, but didn't sound Japanese? 1511UT
1323 woman and man talking 1530UT, too much 1320 splatter to guess at
language. Big carrier
1359 CNR1 woman talking, then man //6125 1534UT
1422 pop music, man talking, two stations? 1523UT
1512 NHK2 traces of anthem and chimes 1540-1UT, but struggling with
man talking also
1539 NHK2 music box 1542UT
1557 pop music and Chinese sounding talk by woman 1540UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here
558 567 621 891 918 936 972 1098 1143 1242 1251 1314 1449 1458
1548 (on north Flag only) 1575
best wishes,
Nick
