I think your Vactrols are worry-free. The actual Vactrol is plastic potted and therefore impermeable to water. The leads should be tin or tin coated and therefore not a problem. Only the binding posts are left and they are commonly stainless steel or brass.


BTW, when did you check your Vactrols? If you're like me, not in the middle of the wet cold dark winter but instead on a nice summer day. My boxes never have water in them in the summer, suprisingly and shockingly.

My VACTROL outdoor termination are "water resistant" -meaning they breathe.. After a year outdoors in a very damp NW environment, the inside of the boxes are bone dry and the 4 screws holding the box closed have a barely perceptible skiff of rust.

Like Nick (and others) have pointed out, full waterproofing anything is a bad idea... Unless the item is under water.
