In general Asian signals hit the skids again here this morning, with only a few big gun TP's managing weak audio in and out. The only exception was a decent late run by a mystery station on 738 (possibly BEL2) just before the 1400 TOH, although the language spoken by a couple of elderly speakers couldn't definitely be confirmed as Chinese.
At my 1300 start time the band sounded dreary indeed, with only 594-JOAK and 747-JOIB managing weak audio in and out. Signals didn't change much by 1330, although 531-JOQG (of all bizarre stations) and 1566-HLAZ joined the two NHK big guns with weak audio in and out. The session would have been a total clunker except for the fact that around 1345 a station on 738 kHz started fading in, rising up to a fairly good level (in some noise) by 1355. This probably was BEL2, but the language spoken by two elderly males was so indistinct that it was easier to rule out what it didn't sound like (Korean or Japanese) than what it did (mumbled Chinese?). Of course the signal bailed right before the 1400 TOH, when an ID would have been possible. Overall the session was pretty much a clunker, except for this weird signal (which was the strongest TP of the morning).
738 UnID (BEL2?) Two elderly males mumbling in unknown language at fairly good level (in some noise) around 1357-- Chinese?
