Re: [IRCA] G'day jim it's an all Aussie and Kiwi kind of morning.. October 4, 2016 - Tuesday

Hi Colin,

<<< 558 UNID Music in passing 1350 >>>

If you hear DU music on 558, Fiji is a good possibility (heard by three DXers on the ocean coast this summer). Listen for Polynesian choral variety.

<<< 585 UNID Music and such like 1352 >>>

Check 576 for a parallel to nail down 7RN. Check 603 for a parallel to nail down NZ's Radio Ngati Porou (highly unlikely in Victoria). If neither, probably 2WEB.

<<< 603 Radio Waatea - New Zealand - assume the awesome Island music and native
talk at various times between 1336 and 1400 >>>

Check 765 for a parallel to nail down Radio Waatea. Despite the 2.5kW power, 765-Radio Kahungunu often makes the trip.

<<< 756 RNZ/ABC either or with very nice jazz music 1350 UTC >>>

Check 675 or 567 for a parallel to nail down RNZ.

<<< I imagine Gary in Puyallup reaching into his tucker bag for some treats
amidst the silence. >>>

Nah, Colin, I just heard all of the above (at good levels) this summer while "Cliffhanger DXing" at Rockwork 4 (the perfect cure for Puyallup).

73, Gary

The Japanese and Koreans took a right royal beating about the noggin today
as down under domination prevailed
in our continuing auroral saga...

I imagine Gary in Puyallup reaching into his tucker bag for some treats
amidst the silence.

Anyway - for us Islanders, the sound of Aussis tainted English filled the
lower end of the dial to mid-band in what
I would describe as a second tier opening...
