[IRCA] TP 26 Sep Victoria version

Except for an appearance from 4QR-612, it was again an Asian morning, though lacking in Chinese. Wonder what it would take in geomagneticism to shut down Japan this month?

Listening from about 1340 to just after 1400UT would have gotten the bulk of the DX, as (pre)sunrise enhancement was, well, enhanced. Might have been fun on the coast, scooping up the Japanese commercial stations, as there were one or two here.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese striking macho poses, woman laughing (a drama? the story of life?) 1211UT; 747 JOIB Chinese lessons, really benefiting from the enhancement and domestic fade out 1350UT
774 JOUB woman and man in Japanese 1306UT, but quite variable
828 JOBB as 774, and even better strength
1053 jammer. 1219UT and other times, never heard anything else even when it faded down, even during the enhancement, even when it signed off at 1400UT. Would have thought the Japanese would have a chance today.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

612 4QR assumed with men in DU English 1320UT, only Aussie noted, and didn't benefit from enhancement 693 JOAB without CBU this would have been perfectly readable "NHK Radyo..." mention by woman 1159UT, and stronger than 774 at this point. Indeed, at 1324UT, it was the strongest of all the NHK2 stations, all of whom seemed to be having a rest at this time.
891 JOHK man in Japanese //594 1356UT
954 JOKR man in Japanese 1403UT, though mostly MIA earlier
1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1353UT
1566 HLAZ woman shutting down the Japanese service 1342UT, not much strength to it earlier

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

603 HLSA soft female vocal 1349UT //558
666 JOBK man in Japanese //594, peaking 1349UT
873 JOGB woman in Japanese //828 1313UT
918 JOER slow pop vocal 1353-4UT //1242, slightly offset
1008 JOAR? Japanese pop 1353UT, not parallel with 918/1242, though listed as All Night Nippon at this time

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

558 HLQH soft vocal 1348UT //603 which became stronger over the next minute
567 JOIK man talking //594 1336UT
738 // 1143 Taiwan Fisheries laid back vocal music 1351UT
837 JOQK man talking //594 1306UT
846 NHK1 synchros woman and man talking //594 1304UT
909 NHK2 Chinese lessons 1353UT //774
936 JOTR/JONF slow pop vocal //918 1353UT. JONF is quite far south, but on the Pacific coast, so maybe more likely? 1017 JOLB extreme minimalist, but was able to pick out oriental violin leading to Chinese lessons theme music 1352UT //774
1242 JOLF slow vocal music //918 and 936 1353UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here

711 756 819 855 864 1179 1314 1377

best wishes,

Nick
