Actually, that format exists, and is called "Standards." But a somewhat
broader, and is called "Americana." There are several syndicated versions of
it, in fact.

While that music came form America, it was very popular in many parts of the
world. From a DX perspective, thinking that a certain kind of music
positively IDs a particular country and station is the danger I was trying
to point out.

David-

An "American" format would the music of the great American singers and
bands. Example: Glen Miller; Benny Goodman; Nat King Cole; Billy Holiday;
Billy Ecstien; Louis Armstrong; Miles Davis;Judy Garland; and add any other
of truely great performers of our time that I may have missed. (before music
went to crap by 1963.) Real American music!
