I'm sure under some conditions it will decode, that wasn't my point.  I just
think that the analog will be clearly audible long before the digital locks
in.  Experience may prove otherwise.

At this point in time, I'm not gonna pony up the $350 it'll take to acquire
one of those rigs.  I am exceptionally pleased with the Blaupunkt Bremen in
the truck, and the San Francisco in the house.  I use them primarily for FM,
but the AM section is pretty darn good.

The stock 1988 Delco in my K5 Blazer was a slightly better AM rig.  Stopped
at 1620, unfortunately, and I can see nothing on the schematic that might
let me open it up another hundred kHz upwards.  Putting a couple Murata
150's made it a stellar FM rig, though.
