DSP is like passband tuning, notch filter, ECSS, etc. They all come in handy 
once in awhile but nothing takes the place of a good signal. I use an 
IC-756ProII which has been modified to remove the MW attenuation that seems 
to come with all transceivers. Actually, it was you West Coast gurus that 
turned me on to the Icom and I am quite pleased with the performance. The 
spectrum analyzer is also a very nice feature.
